The Beatitudes

Many forms of happiness are temporary - they are here today and gone tomorrow.

Since many joys are fleeting, what is the key to true and lasting happiness?

Jesus gave the answer in His first recorded sermon: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 5:3). The word blessed simply means "happy". Christ's statement - and eight others in rapid succession - tell us the source of true happiness.

But our Lord's audience was stunned by what He said, wondering, How can you be poor in spirit and still be happy?

John MacArthur provides the answer from Scripture in his series The Beatitudes. This study of Matthew 5:1-12 proves that by living out our Lord's beatitudes, you can be truly happy. This practical guide will lead you to happiness that is here today and here tomorrow!
